October 23, 2023: Two friends, Salvatore Aiello and Monica Powers, turned a small amount of money into a big deal. They met at an online event by Y Combinator, a company that helps startups.
They decided to work together and made an AI tool called DimeADozen. They spent Rs 15,000, which is about $185, to make it. Then, they sold it for a lot more – Rs 1.2 crore or about $150,000.

Their tool, DimeADozen, helps people in business test their new ideas. It turned out to be a good idea itself.
In just about seven months, it made Rs 54.8 lakh, around $66,000. Just when things were going great, they got an offer they couldn’t say no to. A couple named Felipe Arosemena and Danielle de Corneille bought their tool for Rs 1.2 crore.
But here’s the interesting part. Even after selling it, Salvatore and Monica are still helping the tool grow. They are advisors now.
They will work five hours a week to make the tool even better. Salvatore Aiello hopes big companies like Salesforce will notice how good DimeADozen is at doing its job.
So, what’s the big lesson? A small idea can turn into something big. You don’t always need a lot of money to start.
And even when you sell your idea, you can still be a part of it. Salvatore and Monica show us that.
